Terms of Service for Kanithan

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Kanithan application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

2. Eligibility and Registration

• Account Creation: You must authenticate via a valid Google account to use the App.
• Accuracy: You are responsible for ensuring that the information you provide (including member emails for sharing) is accurate.
• Security: You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account. Kanithan is not liable for unauthorized access resulting from your failure to secure your login credentials.

3. Use of Services

• Personal Use: The App is intended for personal expense tracking and group financial management.
• Group Sharing: When you invite members to a "Family Group" or "Trip," you acknowledge that all members of that group will have access to view, add, or edit transactions within that specific group.
• Prohibited Conduct: You agree not to use the App for any illegal activities, including money laundering or fraudulent financial reporting.

4. Data Ownership and User Content

• Your Data: You retain ownership of all financial data and information you input into the App.
• License to Operate: By using the App, you grant Kanithan the right to host, store, and display your data specifically for the purpose of providing the service to you and your designated group members.
• Responsibility: You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the expenses and split calculations recorded in your account.

5. Service Availability and Modifications

• "As-Is" Service: Kanithan is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. While we use Google Firebase for high availability, we do not guarantee 100% uptime.
• Updates: We reserve the right to modify or discontinue features (such as the "Smart Split" logic) to improve the service at any time.

6. Limitation of Liability

• Financial Decisions: Kanithan is a tracking tool, not a financial advisory service. We are not responsible for any financial losses, disputes between group members, or errors in debt settlement calculations.
• Data Loss: While we use secure cloud storage, we recommend periodic exports of your data. We are not liable for data loss resulting from service provider outages or account deletion.

7. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time. We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access if you violate these Terms or engage in behavior that harms the platform or other users.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising from these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
